PC: What did you
want to be when you were little?
JS: I wanted to be a famous rock chick! True!
And I do remember wanting to be a teacher, and
at some stage wanting to be a hairdresser. Funnily
enough I never made it to stardom … maybe
it’s still to come?
PC: What's the weirdest
food you've ever eaten?
JS: Believe it or not … crispy tarantula.
Well, I tried the leg … that’s gotta
count!
PC: What's your
greatest achievement?
JS: Raising money for Volunteer Service Abroad
to enable me and a group of people to build
a reading shelter at a small school in south
Cambodia. I met some fantastic people during
the fundraising, and the trip itself, and the
overall result was an extremely well-used shelter
for the children to sit and read in.
PC: Where's the
most exotic place you've holidayed?
JS: The national parks of Thailand are a fantastic
place to visit, along with Koh Tao – small
island off the coast of Thailand – near
Koh Samui, but less frequented.
PC: Tell us about
your best Christmas/birthday
JS: Christmas and birthdays are great for me
every year because they roll into one! I arrived
into this world on Boxing Day! (My poor mother!).
PC: Why are you in
Palmy?
JS: I feel like I’m well qualified to
say, Palmy is a great place. I was brought up
here and my family are here, so there’s
one reason. I have managed to get away and have
lived in London for a few years on and off,
and lived in Sydney for two and a half years.
Palmy seems to be like a magnet that draws me
back. It’s an easy place to live, takes
10 or 15 minutes to get from one side to the
other, and we’re close to Wellington,
Taupo, Hawke’s Bay and the Naki. What
more could we want? Oh yeah … if we had
better weather it’d be the perfect place!
But then everyone would want to live here!
PC: If you weren't
living in Palmy, where would you be?
JS: I’d probably go north if anywhere,
maybe Tauranga? Somewhere warmer anyway.
PC: What advice can
you give us?
JS: Mmmm … listen to your mother! She’s
probably right.
Make sure you do the things you want to do
in life, don’t just dream them …
do them.
